Shaking Things Up, Goodbye Gypsy June

Updated: Jan 29, 2020

I'm getting this new year started with a new name for my artsy little business. Gypsy June was to me, as Towanda was to Evelyn Couch of Fried Green Tomatoes. She was my mantra and inspiration for art and adventure. My vision for her was to represent a larger business someday, and maybe she will, but, truth be told, she will most likely incarnate as another furry sidekick!

When I meet people at festivals or on Etsy or Instagram, I want them to know me by the same name that my family and friends know me. That's one thing that I didn't think about when I chose to name my shop Gypsy June----people often assumed that that was my name. As cool as it would be to have that name, it's not my name and it was confusing to people. So, 2020 being the year of clarity, I'm nipping any confusion right in the bud by renaming my shop Melissa Anne Studio.

Also, I can grow with the name Melissa Anne Studio in ways that I would never be able to grow with Gypsy June. I can experiment with any and all arts and crafts or even go back to being a hairstylist----the options are many, and though my website may change in the future, my URL doesn't have to.

So here we are, full circle, I suppose. Goodbye Gypsy June, thank you for being my Towanda, for lending me strength and courage to share my art and talents and meet new and wonderful people.

Until next time.

Carpe diem, my friend!

Melissa Anne
