Sea Salt Shimmers

I recently bought a pearlescent additive for my watercolor paints and I LOVE it. It's very subtle, and gives the paint a wet, liquidy appeal long after it has dried. For the painting below, I also used a sea salt technique for the background. It felt fitting to sprinkle sea salt on a coastal watercolor painting! I think it adds a nice little pop of texture and visual appeal.

The possibilities are infinite and I absolutely cannot wait to get started on my next painting! I'm beginning to visualize something with celestial, whimsical, and nautical elements. What do you think? Would you like to see some more pelicans, too?

Until next time.

Carpe diem, my friend!
