Nature Journal: Indigo Bunting

Updated: Jan 26, 2020

Phew! So much catching up to do on my blog! The month of August is always an adjustment. Gone are the lazy days of summer. My only kiddo just started his sophomore year three weeks ago and his schedule is full from dawn to dusk, five days a week. This also means that my schedule is full of driving to and fro, to and fro, to and fro. It's the fleeting pace of fall for two years after this, then my little fledgling will fly off to college and, no doubt, I'll look back on these chaotic days with longing and nostalgia.

With the shift of seasons and fledglings in mind, I introduce to you the Indigo Bunting. He's a summer resident in my state, but will soon be making his migratory journey to the Caribbean for the winter. Of course, I've taken some creative liberties with his likeness and habitat in this watercolor painting, but, by nature he truly dons a vibrant shade of indigo plumage.

Until next time.

Carpe diem, my friend!
